As for Kelvin and the Others, I think he was going out looking for them...sort of like Rouseau and her traps. Ben and the Others were just staying out of their way. Sort of like a one-sided truce. Kelvin and Rouseau were still at war, but Ben and the Others were staying out of sight and leaving them alone.
Does that sound logical?
It might also explain that "drawing of the lines" when Jack, Sawyer and Locke confronted the Others when they went after Michael the first time (and the Others captured Kate). Maybe that 'you stay on your side and we'll stay on ours' was an attempt to adapt that strategy to the Losties.

so its sort of like, you leave us alone we leave you alone??
and therefore because Rousseau seems to have stayed away from them after they took alex other than setting traps, in parts of the island they aint going to go to anyway they left her to it. And they left kelvin because he was doing something important pushing the button and not affecting there lives at all
so after taking the "good people" the others would have left the losties to themselves????
