The other doc and a nurse gave him a funny look like " what are you talking about Jack, your dad is dead??"

Whenever Jack is in the wrong, he blames someone else.
I think blaming his dad was just habit.
Back when Jack was getting married, his dad said, "You can't let anything go." Jack then used that line in his wedding vows and they cut away to a shot of his dad grimacing. Jack didn't understand what his father was saying.
Jack is unable to to move on and let a situation go.
In that flash-forward, he is really saying that he can't let the situation on the island go. He cannot accept that it's over. He keeps wanting to revisit it, rather that settle down to remaking his life post-rescue.
