So the Spirit of Christmas Future asks Scrooge. This episode is called "Through A Looking Glass"...not THE but A. There have been a number of references to Dickens, and also to Lewis Carroll.

I think it may be only ONE possible future. Perhaps starting next season we will be having flash forwards for each character instead of flashbacks. Or else we see the after the island life of each character and the flashbacks are to their past on the island.

Given Desmond's experience and his interaction with Charlie, perhaps the remaining episodes are about how the final future is shaped by their actions before leaving the island.
