Jin-Soo Kwon

Jin-Soo Kwon (Revised Romanization of Korean (RR): Gwon Jin-su, McCune-Reischauer (MR): Kwo(n Chin-su) is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Jin was born into a poor upbringing with his fisherman father which he has always been ashamed of. After meeting and in order to marry Sun, the love of his life, he was forced into working into his father-in-law's mafia-type business in which he takes part in horrid tasks. This has made him almost scared of what he is capable of. Due to this, he was over-controlling of Sun in their late-marriage stage. Jin is the only survivor to not speak the native language within the group - English. This has caused a constant language barrier but after Sun revealed she spoke English to the group, this helped him overcome this struggle and has managed to pick up disconnected words and phrases.

Default FOUR Toed Foot

I was looking around for some more info on the huge 4-toed foot. (corrected from 3) It was at the end of this episode i believe. When sayid and them get to the black rock or something and we see the foot.... Its seems to be whats left of a huge stature... maybe like the Statue of liberty or the pyramids of giza either then or when Micheal was in the Other's camp.

thoughts? ....

anyone got a screengrab?
is this on another post?

The 4-toed (it's 4, not 3) statue was certainly the subject of a lot of discussion when it first appeared at the end of Season 2. I didn't participate in the discussion too much because in all honesty this is one thing that I really couldn't speculate on - a real stumper. It first appeared around the middle of the finale episode, while Jack, Kate, Sawyer, Hurley, and Michael were being taken to the Pali Ferry dock.

From what I have read since that episode, I can tell you that the producers said this was a clue as to the age of the Island and that there may have been lots of other different people there in the past. Statues like that (assuming the statue was once whole) don't get made by themselves, but by a considerable group effort. The style of the foot with an archaic-looking thong/sandal could indicate the age of the statue is as far back as the Greco-Roman era or even Atlantis if I dare to say the word.

As for the four toes? Scientists believe that we will lose our baby toes over time - through evolution. The four toes could mean there was once a more evolved civilization on the Island, or it could mean that there will be a more evolved civilization at some point in the future. This depends whether you're in the camp of people who believe that the Losties are either existing in the past or the future, or that time is continually changing around them while they remain immune to its effects in most regards.

The answer remains to be seen, but I do know the producers stated they were planning an episode that would go into detail about the history of the Island. I would love to see how they do an "Island Flashback" heh heh. This would include a glimpse of what DHARMA found when it came to the Island in the 70's, perhaps might include the famous "incident" referred to on the Blast Door Map and in the Swan Orientation film.

So, the short answer: who knows?

Could the Statue be where the temple is -coming up. I remember the statue was to be "explained" or at least revisited this season.

Yes, that is supposed to be coming up...hopefully in the 5th season. I don't think they'll be dealing with it in S4 unless there is a sudden shift in the pace of the storyline.

At some point we will find out what that statue, if they put in the show, then it will come about in flash backs, when Darma first got on the Island! I'am sure it will shock us all when they show it, the show just make's you keep guessing!

My vote goes to that the statue was built by the original (now extinct) tribes, the makers of all those fun underground places that Ben takes us too (to control the black smoke and to move the island).. I'd say the fact that it's like the creators said - something to "date" the original islanders - a statue that big would take a long time to erode to that point, so maybe it's just a sign of how long people have been there?
