 Mr. Eko
Eko, also known as Mr. Eko or Father Tunde, was one of the tail section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. He was a notorious war lord and drug smuggler in Nigeria before his brother Yemi's death. To get out of his country he hastily became a priest, but after Yemi's death, he seemed to take his role more seriously. Eko survived on the Island for 72 days before he was killed by the Monster.

How many other times has the smoke taken another shape? Wasn't the smoke a panther once...and then a leopard or a cheetah [it was brief, where it ran by...], and a horse for Kate, a Boar for Sawyer? It always has something to do with someone's past. John Locke saw a bright light he said last week here in Season 3. Maybe Dave for Hurley? Jack's Dad?

If the smoke can take on different forms...then these are possibilities.
On the same note, I want to say that this may NOT be the smoke. The bird could have been a mark to warn Hurley of trouble like someone else had said. *Shrug* I have no idea.
