Benjamin "Ben" Linus
Benjamin "Ben" Linus is the leader of the Others on the Island. Ben arrived on the Island as a child, brought by his father Roger to work for the DHARMA Initiative. Ben takes orders from Jacob, and is the only person who visits and speaks with him. Ben's apparent goal is to keep the Island and its special properties secret from the outside world, and he goes to great lengths to achieve this.

There is WAY more to the Others than meets the eye. Ms. Klue wrote out the names by heart, first name and LAST name... (Note how Sawyer said earlier he didn't even know AL's last name?) They know WAY too much for it to be coincidence. I think to me, Hurley is the only one who is hard to place, the rest seem fairly obvious, they are the "alpha's" of the pack... (Sayid and Locke probably deserve to be on the list too, but maybe its just not their turn yet...)
There has to be some connection between the 4 we are overlooking... (or simply don't know yet.) (They could give us more info by making each episode 2 hours instead of 1! )
Was I the only one who thinks that the Others were eminating an aire of peace and tranquility? I didn't get a single hostile vibe, and I think they were trying to exude the sentiment to Michael... but he was too irrational due to the Walt issue. Were I there instead of Michael, i would have made an effort to befriend, ally, learn, etc... I dunno.

The Others believe whole-heartedly that they ARE peacefull and that they are making the world a better place. They believe they have a moral vantage point that allows them to judge those whom they don't accept.
As for Locke, they didn't call for him because Mr. "Gale" was being half-way honest about the fact that he was trying to recruit him. The only falsehood in what he said was that it was in his capture that he was trying to do this. He was NOT caught by accident. Next season will almost certainly reveal this. The Others can predict the actions of the survivors of the crash to a ridiculous degree. "Gale" knew that he wasn't going to die in that net, nor in the Swan Station. The whole thing was planned, and as far as they are concerned there is a very small "wildcard" factor.
As for the Sailboat, check my blog about Desmond.

They know because they have the passenger manifest. That was how Locke knew Sawyer's real name, too.
How did they get it? Well, they had to have had it before before the flight. Remember, they know exactly who each of the tailies were.
Also, I think the Others did a Manchurian Candidate thing with Michael. What we saw in those "three minutes" are the implanted memory the Others put there. Why? Those three minutes hide from Michael the fact that he has been programed to kill Ana Lucia and anyone else in the Hatch in order to get "Henry" out.
You'll notice that each time someone contradicted Michael's programing, he suddenly became very cold and angry. That is what Sayidd noticed. That whole "village" might be a programed illusion.

Now see, I felt the opposite. Hurley has the whole "numbers/everyone around him has really bad luck" thing going on. Plus he spent time in the mental hospital along with Libby and the guy who kept repeating the numbers over and over. I think the hospital has a strong connection with Darhma.
Here's the Losties that I think have a strong connection with Darhma or some kind of Darhma-like initiative:
Locke - regained the use of this legs
Jin - was able to impregnate Sun although impotant (if we believe Sun that is)
Rose - has cancer but seems to have gone into remission
Claire/Aaron - already kidnapped once, but maybe they're done with her
Ecko - drug plane with brother aboard also ends up on the island
What else have we seen that would make you think Darhma has directly impacted/influenced a Lostie's life?
