At the end of the show my husband and I stood on different sides of the argument. He was with Locke- This is a twisted experiment that has fallen apart, is not active and, no longer means anything.
I sided with Eko- This is to complex and detailed to mean nothing. Some of the hatches may not work anymore but I think this island and the work going on there is still very active.

Who do you think is right? Locke? Eko? Both or neither?

I aggree with the active part... why would they drop food if they thought it had failed. So i'm going for Eko. There's still things to be done.

Well Eko is there to steer Locke back on course, so Locke will probaly soon agree with Eko.

At the end, I was in the middle, I believed that it was nothing but an expirement. Though I also thought they should continue, because their was still some things that were worth finding out.

My prediction:

I bet you get your wish next week...and something big happens (another plane crash?) The computer log will then be studied and there will be an anomaly right about when their crash happened. And then Locke's faith will be restored.

I agree with JediToad. I think Locke's loss of faith is temporary and Ecko is destined to bring him back around.

By the end of season 1, my theory was that this was some kind of experiment and the Losties presence on the island had been predetermined. I still believe this, but now I think this is either

1) an experiment gone bad and someone out there is trying to cover the whole thing up (both Losties and the Others seem to have no way to get off the island)

2) an experiment where an 'incident' has occurred and things are now going out of control.

I think Eko will bring Locke back around to his curious, believing self again. I'm not liking the grumpy sulking Locke. With Henry gone, maybe he and Jack can kick butt again.
