There still might be a chance locke, and eko will found out about micheal. I saw eko searching through the note books. Though I guess if that that "?" hatch has been abandoned then it wouldn't be logged into the books. Also in the "?" hatch I saw there was a camera in there also, I guess the observers are being watched also.

I think that the observers in The Pearl hatch are the real experiment, and that button pushin in the swan is still important.

I dont think the lost writers would have all the questionable activity happening in the Swan if it meant nothing....the sound of machines gearing up, the red and black Hieroglypics, the lockdown. it HAS to mean something!

I am still not convinced that the pearl is the ?. Go take a look at your hatch maps - the creator of the map wrote "CV IV The Pearl?" just south of the area he marked as "mountainous terrain". The "?" is quite a ways west of them. I'm thinking Eko and John got LOST.

It's very clear the Pearl is not the "?".

so has anyone compared the first orientation video to this one at all? I think something very serious is going on. First of all, Dr. Candle is now Dr. Witman. Secondly, he's not in the sciencey lab coat as he was before. But i think the big clue here is that in the first orientation Dr. Candle only ever uses one arm. His "namaste" gesture is only with his right hand, suggesting that his left arm is some kind of prostetic. In the Pearl orientation, he uses both hands just fine.

The other thing I found interesting was there being no mention of the "incident."

So two theories are going through my mind:
1 - Dharma simply dressed up this guy and named him differently in each video on purpose for reasons unknown.
2 - Dr. Candle/Witman was involved in the whole incident and the film for the Swan was made after, apparently the doctor had an arm severed during the incident.

Both films are copyrighted 1980, but a lot could happen in a year, so who knows. I can't remember when that blast door mentioned the incicent possibly being. I'm also wondering why both films are in different formats (old film reel vs. VHS) Why they wouldnt install a TV in the Swan is beyond me.

I heard Candle's new name as Wickman subtly suggesting some connection to the Flame hatch. Maybe the next hatch the Losties will raid?

Ditto...they should have crossed a river per the map.

The big ? on the map would be more than a couple of underground lazy-boys...whose occupants were also being spied on as well.

Ah, who said it came from the Swan station? Maybe there is another station with someone doing the exact same thing?
