Default Is this Rouseau's Rocher Noir?

http://www.lost-media.com/modules.ph...m=1039&pos=550

Rousseau's recorded message tells of her plans to go to the 'rocher noir'...this, as a bilingual person (french-canadian), has always bugged me. You see a French speaker would not translate a proper name, such as that of say, a ship. In french, the good ship Black Rock would be the Le Black Rock, with a heavé french accent...NOT 'le rocher noir'.

So...Ive been on the lookout for something that might fit...and I wonder if this rather prop-like rock object behind Jack might be it!

Wait your saying that "The Black Rock" (ship) is not the same Black Rock that Rousseau was talking about?

I haven't thought that much about Rousseau's message (since I don't speak French) but I did fnd it interesting that the Black Rock (ship) provided the ability for the Losties to get into the hatch and now Jack identifies the location of Zeke's "line" by a black rock that he remembers. I'm beginning to wonder if "black rock" is a metaphor for something more significant.

My wife and I noticed that VERY obvious black rock as well - She hadn't seen some of the first season and asked me if that was THE black rock... Must say I was somewhat curious... I know what Unhatched is getting it, he's right about the french translation of names, but I wonder if the creators of the show (likely English) didn't just make a mistake in the writing?

Yup..thats what I'm a-thinking...

I have long held this view that the 'rocher noir' is something other than the ship, which conveniently bears that name. I dont know if the pictured rock is it...but that's one big fake-looking rock! And right at the do not cross "line"?

I was just making sure...But yeah that makes sense, thought there are black rocks all over the island, during the first season I would get excited everytime I saw one.

Can't say she isn't an "Other" but, if she is, Sawyer better hire her for tutoring in running scams. Sawyer only had to lie to one or two people at a time; if she's scamming, she's fooling all the Losties as well as most of the audience.

I think the black rock we saw by "the-line" when Jack and Kate went out there is nothing more than a black rock. We know from Bernards trying to build the SOS sign that there was lava rock on the island. If this is the case, in my mind, its nothing more than a lava rock, launched there from some past erruption.

Well about the conning, "Henry Gale"'s story sounds sorta like the French Ladies, but the difference i think is that she got to Sahid first and got him to believe her and the rest would naturally follow him. this of course is IF she were an other which i dont think she is. But look.... she also was the one to GET henry into the losties hatch... she also is the one who could have killed him but instead wounded him. This could all be one long con.

Me, well, I'm a man of faith. Do you really think all this...is an accident? That we, a group of strangers survived, many of us with just superficial injuries? Do you think we crashed on this place by coincidence, especially this place? We were brought here for a purpose, for a reason, all of us. Each one of us was brought here for a reason.
