Johnathan "John" Locke

Johnathan "John" Locke is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. His paralysis was immediately healed upon crashing on the Island, which has ultimately led him to believe he has some sort of special connection to the Island. He is sometimes shown in antithesis to Benjamin Linus, sharing several traits including the ability to commune with Jacob. Seen as antithetical to Jack Shephard, he and Jack are philosophical opposites and used to share leadership among the survivors, but now seems to be creating his own agenda for his actions on the Island and has broken off from the survivors.

Default Magnetic Field

So, that Isaac dude couldn't heal Rose because of the magnetic stuff in Australia, right?

We know that the island has some sort of magnetic thingie around it. Could that be why Rose thinks she is healed? Or is it just the 'magic' of the island?

Bwhahahahhah, I like it when my thoughts become reality...There is something special on the island, that is why Dharma picked it, their thoughts can become reality. Walt's ideas become real, that is why the others want him, if his power can be harnessed.

Holy smokes...i hope you're right on this, because that would be amazing.

I love the conversation Rose and Locke had. She obviously knew the island was a special place because she saw Locke in his wheel-chair PRE crash, and now sees him whell-chairless. I don't know, i was confused at first, but not so much any more!

at the end of the show when they start showing all the characters, there was Jin and Sun, theay are having a baby now before they couldn't, Claire with her baby, that she didn't want, Sawyer by himself, well that was normal : )

Maybe the island is helping them, they are not lost, maybe they found what they really want in life....

What scared me was what HH said: "They'll never give you Walt..."

Yipe!

I didn't get this at first either(locke in the wheelchair), now it makes sense. Good theory

One question: if this island has healing powers, then what is the "sickness"? Is it something more powerful than the island? A figment of Rosseau's craziness? Or are the island's healing powers only for certain people?

(That's more like four questions, but anyway...)

Maybe the healing power is not as it seems? It may be something insidious for all you know. Perhaps the healing is just temporary;the condition escalates and its symptoms become visible at the onset of the final stage of the sickness.

It's most probably wrong, but who knows? Nothing is for certain in this show anyway.

I believe that the the island does omit a sickness, but as Healy (the austrakian healer) said "Not everyone can be healed here". Maybe this is the same for the island, maybe it cant heal some people from the sickness.

I am not sure if I even believe in that ^, im just kind of rambling.

Maybe the sickness consumes those whose brains/minds aren't capable of handling Pyshic enhancement. Instead of being enlightened, they go crazy. Perhaps past Darhma experiments contained flawed individuals. The Oceanic flight contains hand picked individuals?
