Well. there are some people who argued that on this forum about a week or so ago, and its a hot topic on other forums.

But to me, its pretty obvious that she is not a doctor at the time we see her at Santa Rosa.

Well, sorry if I've missed that, but since his arguments were the fact that they gave her meds, and that makes it obvious she wasn't just sitting there having a hangover and actually was on duty or something.

EDIT: point being - in that particular scene, she was not a doctor.

He he he Maybe that's why she's was in the hospitalin the first place. When she's off the meds she thinks she's a doctor.

We know that the flashbacks sometimes go WAY back. And sometimes they are closer to the crash. Hurley won the lottery after he got out of Santa Rosa. We can assume Libby, who maybe was a Shrink once, must have had to deal with a particularly bad case, and ended up in the institute. Or, Perhaps she only got her Shrink job after she was "cured" at Santa Rosa. Either way, the next flashback she's in, she is perfectly sane. ((I won't spill anything here, but you can check out Spoilerfix))

Maybe she is a doctor at the time we see her at Santa Rosa. She could be having some kind of recurring mental episode that mandates her hospitalization. Maybe she is recovering from a mental breakdown after the loss of a loved one or family member. Doctors have mental issues just like the rest of the population. Maybe she was simply incapacitated at the time.

Absolutely, it is kind of like dentists with bad teeth. I remeber someone telling me that mental health professionals have one of the highest suicide rates. I bet there are a great deal of them that wind up under civil commitment.

She could've been "under cover" as a docand those pills could've easily been placebos or tylenol or something.
