God knows

In "Dave" Locke begins a sentence with "God knows?" Hoax-Henry interrupts Locke by saying (along the lines of) "God does not know!". "God cant see this island, no one can".

Locke was taken aback by this statement, where you? Have your opinions on Henry changed?

I wasn't thinking about 'Henry' or Locke when this statement was made... I was thining of Eko.

If Eko is actually building a church (which I think he is), then that mean's he'd trying to start a connection with God. Perhaps that means something? Perhaps it's just a strange connection in my mind. Who knows. That's just my idea.

That was a great quote. I'm not sure what to say about it, but perhaps the people on the island, including the survivors, are somehow blocked out from the rest of the world. Obviously they're isolated because they are castaways, but perhaps they are isolated some other way, maybe psychologically or spiritually.

I agree, NotAulophobic. I think he is building a church. I also believe that Eko kept it a secret on purpose because he fears that Charlie would give up on the project if he knew it had anything to do with worship.

I disagree , Charlie's flashbacks show him as having religion in his childhood/past , and Charley prayed with Rose that time , I think when Claire was missing or something , and don't forget he wanted AAron to be baptised .....

I think he is keeping it a secret from everyone - for now.

From a Judeal-Christian standpoint, the only place that God could NOT see would be somewhere that he has forsaken or given up on.

I don't know if HH really literally meant that or if he was just trying to make the point of how hellish it is to live on that island and have to answer to "him".

I am not sure what to think of Hoax-Henry any more. He seemed truley scared of the thought of having to deal with "Him" and disgusted with the whole island and the things that are going on all around him. It makes me think he's feeling ill at ease with what is being done there.
THEN... I see that creepy smug grin of his face when he has pulled one over on them and I become almost positive the guy is messing with Locke's head, and loving it.
At this point I think Dharma has a bit of a God compex and H.H. thinks that God is bind to what they are doing there or he would have done something but now. It's also helpful that he knows it will freak Locke out and Cause him to doubt himself even more.
All I know for sure right now is H.H. Is a twisted Guy!

This is almost word for word what i was thinking after processing what Henry said to Locke. I think he literally meant that no person could see the place (knows where it is), but as Blackbird say, he adds the God part to just drive the point home.
