OK Obviously Locke is my man so im going to have to go into this episode.

Ok so we know from this episode that Locke has some issues with being alone.. this is evident when he screams to Henry Gale to NOT leave him alone. So this got me thinking. Perhaps after his girlfriend and father left he becamse suicidal? Lost the use of his legs? Not sure, this might be why he freaked out on Henry with the alone thing. and he may have been just a little weary of Henry trying to escape or something but still i think somethihng other than the :"thugs: from his father beating him up happened.

I'm not sure if it is that deep. I really think that if anyone were trapped
underneath a blast door, they would beg the only other person around
not to leave. No one would want to be left in such vulnerable position.
If H.H. had left, he could have been trapped for hours - he had no way of
knowing the blast doors would only be down a short while.

I don’t think Locke is Suicidal. I think he had a fear of being caught underneath the door and not having anyone near him when he died.
I know I wouldn't want to be left alone while there was a blast door destroying my legs. And if he was Suicidal he wouldn't have been in such
a hurry to stop the blast door from dropping on him.

I agree. If he were suicidal, he would want to die. And what better way to
go than to have the hatch do him in. He has lots of reasons to want to stay
alive now, he still wants lots of answers from the island, the hatch etc.

To me, the Locke on the island is very different from the mealy-mouthed guy with his dad. It could be at some point in his life (like maybe if Helen really did leave him for good), he was suicidal. But something happened, even before the plane crash, that made him a very strong person.

Exactly, instead of letting events in his life give him a reason to wallow in
self pity (Sawyer) Locke seems to grow and become stronger. He
refuses to let life get him down. He could wallow in pity about being
paralyzed, but instead he plans a walkabout.

you guys misunderstood me when i said that he was suicidal. I meant that perhaps RIGHT AFTER he was shot down by his girlfriend and dad that perhaps he did soemthing suicidal that lead to the events of his paralysis. Just a theory, im not saying that he was suicidal in the hatch. If indeed he did do something suicidal BEFORE the ISLAND, then i was saying that could be the reason he called out for Henry Gale.
