Dr. Jack Shephard
Dr. Jack Shephard is often seen as the main character of the series. He is a spinal surgeon and the de facto leader of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Jack has control issues and trouble dealing with situations that he cannot fix. However, this attitude of solving problems through reason has given him the ability to function well in crisis. Sometimes, if he feels guilt or pain over a situation he can't fix himself, he will do anything he can to fix it, even borderlining on obsessive. Jack is, most of the time, in control of his life, emotions and situation he is in and is able to keep a cool head in tense situations. Jack is also the half brother of Claire Littleton, although neither of them is aware of this. Jack has formed very strong bonds with Kate and Juliet while he has been on the Island.

Not Dharma. The Others. I think the others are Dharma people who were in the two stations affected by "the incident." I think Dharma plugged the underground tunnels, armed the guys in 'Station 3, the Swan" and cut the people in the two effected stations loose to fend for themselves (make them ex-Dharma).
Remember: both of the other spies weren't on the passenger lists. So, if it was Dharma, they weren't thinking of everything there, either.

I think that saying that it was his friend who died in the crash would have not have had the same emotional punch as saying that his wife died. Yes, it would mean that his cover story would have seemed true - but, I dunno, I don't think he suspected that anyone would dig up a grave to verify his story (especially his wife's grave - that just seems so much more personal). I wonder why he decided to do that as well; he probably just didn't think it through.

3. Did anyone see the gold car in the scene w/ Locke and Nadia? (I could be mistaken)

Point #2. The air shaft (Hatch) was locked from the inside. The ladder leading up to it was gone. Stenciled on the inside of the Hatch was the word "Quarantine" which, since it's on the inside, meant the island outside was under quarantine.
You may also recall that when Desmond ran, there was an inner and outer door at the outside entrance of the bunker (Station 3, the Swan). My first thought when I saw it was, "Airlock!"
The losties have since tied back the inner door in order to make coming and going easier.
I would also put forward the idea that the two Dharma people running the counter reset at the Swan (one of whom died before Desmond got there) had only the most minimal knowledge of what was going on (based on the orientation film).
This was because Dharma considered them expendable.

I've thought it over...what if he took on the identity of Henry Gale because he KNEW the real Henry Gale was "HIM" (Desmond's replacement), possibly he killed him, and thought that using his name would help him gain access to the Swan hatch...there's something in there he needs.
Now...I wonder if his real name is Murphy, married to his lovely wife Jennifer!
