Boone Carlyle
Boone Carlyle was a middle section survivor of Oceanic Flight 815 and was Shannon's stepbrother. He attempted to assume a semi-leadership role with the survivors but failed due to being rash and young, though he became Locke's apprentice when the two formed a close bond. Boone survived on the Island for 41 days before he died of injuries sustained in a fall whilst he tried to contact 'rescuers' from the drug smugglers' plane. According to Locke, Boone was a sacrifice the Island demanded.

Toad, that's horrible!
You know you don't need to score points with Jesus (it wouldn't work anyway...nothing we can do would get us to heaven, just JC's loving grace.)
I thought that might've been what you meant. Oh well.

Great idea.

That sounds very plausible actually. It makes sense. I wonder how long
after she turned him down he was paralyzed.

I think Helen's using a version of "Tough Love" on Locke. He needs to care about something more than getting the father who left him to be raised an orphan, conned him out of a kidney, told him to his face that the only reason he acted as he did (the plaintive, "Why?" question from Locke while parked in his Volkswagen) was "because you had something I wanted. Other than that, I didn't care if you lived or died." (or words to that effect).
Locke promised Helen he'd stop stalking his dad. He lied. She caught him at it. At the start of Lockdown, Locke and Helen are living together, he's saved enough to buy a ring...and then...his dad again. Surely, you can see that she afraid this will undo all the progress Locke's made in getting past his father's betrayal. I know some people who have attempted suicide at the death of their estranged fathers. Now there is absolutely no chance for reconciliation and they can't live with that knowledge. In the back of their heads, they were still hoping that somewhere, someday, the dad would show up and be the dad they always fantasized having. They can't live in a world without that hope.
I think Helen thinks John is still fragile and when she discovers the dad's alive and working yet another con involving John, she explodes (and, perhaps, concedes defeat and leaves John standing in the parking lot).

I agree that he was not straight forward with her, but cut the guy some slack! Would she be just the tiniest bit curious if her father - no matter how
she felt about him - died, then reappeared. People experience closure diffent ways. I understand she didn't want him hurt again, but to say
don't ever see him again is a little much. Ultimatums rarely are healthy
for a relationship. What really buggede me is she was saying, in essence,
work through your problem the way I decide you should work for it.
If it had been a drug problem or drinking I could definitly agree
the drugs or me. But his father was leaving the country for good,
she didn't even let him explain.

Some good theories here. First of all, I think Locke left the money in the hotel room.
As far as Helen; maybe she became upset because Locke didn't tell her that her father was alive, even after she received the visits from the thugs - that would have really ticked me off.
I find their John and Helen's relationship a bit confusing, mainly because not much about it has been shown to us. For example, we don't know how much time went by between when she gave him the 'ultimatum' and reading about his father's death. Maybe it had been a long while and she felt that he was over the whole thing and then suddenly found out that not only was he helping his father out, but putting the both of them in danger and not even letting her know.
Oh, and I like the idea that she's possibly in on the whole thing, but I don't think it's true. Of course Lost has proven me wrong over and over again.
