You are right - I just rewatched the episode. Sayid told Charlie he had
tortured a man and he was sure he was an other because he didn't
feel guilty about what he had done.
He also reminded Charlie of what Ethan had done to him (Charlie)
I think he knows the time will come when the Camp will have to become
ruthless with anyone they meet and wants Charlie to understand
when it starts happening.
