Weird-tasting water

In the episode, Claire says that the water Ethan is giving her when he takes her outside, tastes very sour. And Ethans just like: It does? I've never noticed..He did however not taste it himself.

Any thoughts?

Yeah thats the drug he gave her..

The look on Ethan's face when he said that cracked me up - such a goofy/obvious lie. Claire on drugs was pretty humorous too at times - looking forward to seeing outtakes on the DVD - I bet they cracked themselves up during the filming of those scenes.

What was more interesting to me was that he told her she "has a choice" about giving up the baby. I mean, they have her, so why go to the trouble to tell her that if it is not true? Maybe he really meant it in some way? It seems like they went to a lot of trouble to confuse her about what was going on (the nursery, the medical check-up room). Why bother? They took Walt by force without a lot of fuss. I'm confused about the whole charade.

Was it all just some kind of experiment to see if she would give up the baby?

I think the "choice" statement was just to keep her calm. pregnant women tend to strange things anyway. Maybe he was just trying to keep her predictable.

The water was drugged, and Ethan was lying to her to keep the hormonal pregnant woman calm. You saw how she reacted when she was being saved. She was loud and agressive. Why take the chance of her running off. Keep her calm until that night when they take the kid.

Did anyone else notice that in that same sceen, Just like Henry Gale While talking to Sayid, Ethan had to stop himself in mid-sentance and speek again. I got the feeling he was going to say I wish you didn't have to die. Or something very close. As it was, he just changed it to "I wish you didn't have to Go."

Spiked water, spiked with drugs or setitives.

I agree. I think he drugged the water. I also think he was beginning to care a little about her, although not enough to save her.
