Paulo

Paulo was one of the middle section survivors of Flight 815. Before the crash, he and Nikki Fernandez murdered Howard L. Zukerman and stole his diamonds. They spent most of their time on the island searching for these diamonds to the exclusion of almost everything else. A bite from a Medusa spider induced a death-like paralysis in Paulo. He subsequently died as a result of being buried alive while paralized.

He was 'promised' a new life by Smokey when he 'looked into the eye of the island'. So he did what all he was supposed to, opened the hatch and is waiting for his 'entitlement'...except Gale made him feel like his old loser self...so he had a fit at the 'island' as it was not living up to it's promise.
