Eko's confession to Henry Gale

Okay, I have not digested the episode yet by any means, but just wanted to post a quick query - what did you think about Mr. Eko's confession to Henry Gale?

Perhaps he just wants to relieve his sense of guilt, and wants to apologize to Henry as a representative of those he killed.

But in the medical hatch, the Others are discussing the making of a 'list' and that it was unfinished before Ethan took Claire. So Ethan is a list-making spy like Goodwin was. Could Henry have been sent to finish the list? Does that mean the Others will start kidnapping again if Henry manages to leak his info?

And we know Goodwin told Ana Lucia that the "good" ones were taken. So is Mr. Eko back on the new list?

I admit, at this point, I'm pretty confused, as usual.

Eko as usual was going way too fast in that conversation, he even left Henry wondering "WTF?"

That whole conversation left me utterly confused...at least Eko got rid of the little beard-thingies he had.

That whole sceen was a bit bizzar. I think Mr. Oz was Freaked out buy Mr. Eko. He truley looked scared. I want to know what the point was of cutting off the braides too.
He acted like he wanted to be taken. Maybe he's taken a good look around and has decided he's hanging out with a bunch of Jerks. Now he wants to switch sides.
I'll be real curious what happens next with him.

At the end of the scene, I thought Eko looked at Henry with a kind of threatening disgusted expression, as if Henry had failed to respond to his heartfelt confession in the way Eko expected, with sympathy or forgiveness.

Henry just stared at him, but did not appear shocked about the killings, perhaps? Maybe Eko senses that Henry is not a good person. I don't know. Maybe that was just Eko being serious... I am still confused.

But I think Eko plans to stay and build a church.

I didn't understand why he cut off the beard pieces either. Maybe it has some kind of significance in his original culture? Or maybe they just wanted us to think briefly that he was going to use the knife on Henry or himself?

Maybe each beard straw represented the two people he killed.

good theory toad, i agree with that. i do think though that eko was saying her was sorry for killing two of gale's friends. i think eko knows he is an other.

I was waiting for Eko to say something like "I've missed you, Father." (like a priest who trained him.) Or "Where are they?" (the children.) But...nothing. He might've been more successful than Sayid was at getting answers. But no, just confession time.
