Smiley Face Hot Air Balloon

On episode of 2-15-06.
When Syad was questioning the new man considered to be an "Other". The man said he and his wife had crashed there in a hot air balloon.
He even described it with a smiley face on the top. Since Syad seemed so sure the man was an other I remebered back to when Jack and Locke were first talking to Desmond and did he not say he had been in a cross country triathelone or something where he was in a hot air balloon? Could the others maybe have found his hot air balloon and maybe that is how the new guy came up with the response that he did so quick for Syad?

I thought he was in a sailboat race and crashed on the Island.

Yeh, Desmond crashed on the island when he was racing around the world in a sail boat. When he crashed he was taken down the hatch and that is where he said he as been since Kate found him.
I really hope they come back to Desmond....what happened to him? Is he with the others? dead?

Thanks for explaining that before I had to, and Desmond's whereabouts are up there on my most wanted mystries of LOST.

Desmond was a pretty cool character, he had that crazy logical personality that made yu think. Now completely irrelevant to that subject, did anyone else notice right before the camara flipped to Sawyer in his tent in the last episode, that Kate was roasting an orange or some other citrus fruit over the fire? Who in their right mind would roast an orange over the fire on a stick? Little confused here.

It is not that weird really, in fact it tastes pretty dang good, at resturaunts they will often roast lemons and limes.

It definetly caught my eye though.

I found it odd that "Henry" could just rattle off dimensions of a hot air balloon so quickly. "She's 140 feet high, 60 feet wide, and when she's up in the air 550,000 cubic feet of helium and 100,000 of hot air keep her up."

How would he know all of that? By knowing about a man named Steve Fossett, who in 2002 manned the first succesful solo round-the-world balloon flight. The balloon was called the "Solo Spirit" and is described this way:
"The Solo Spirit balloon uses a combination of helium and hot air to fly, a design known as a Roziere balloon. The balloon envelope is 140 feet tall and 60 feet wide. It contains 550,000 cubic feet of helium plus 100,000 cubic feet of hot air."

So, obviously "Henry" knew about the "Solo Spirit" and after a little bit of stalling was able to think up the dimensions from his memory. So yes, "Henry" is an other. A very smart other, but an other nonetheless.

Totally agreement..that story was a pantload all the way...but all he needs to do is take Sayid to the wreck and wife's grave and that will settle it.

He's some kind of intellegence-trained dude...see how he tried to counter-interrogate Sayid, about 3 times...Sayid picked up on it and then really got down to work on him. When Sayid finally he told him his name, (no. 1 interrogation no-no) he was basically saying "so now we've established you're a spy-man, you wanna play rough?"

oh, he's definately an other.... unfortunatly by the time someone there figures out the who Wizard of Oz connection i'm affraid it will be too late for one of our regulars... maybe AL?
