no ur right. thats exactly what i was thinking b/c that is how desmond crashed. he said he was competing in a race around the world and that is in a balloon becuase he said he crashed onto the island and someone found him and gave him the job in the hatch. also, how could the man in the hatch have found desmond if you arent supposed to leave the hatch? so it had to be the others!

Did the guy who found Desmond and recruit him to the hatch die? I don't remember. Could he be the other guy that was pushing the button with Desmond?
