Kate Austen

Kate Austen is one of the middle section survivors of Oceanic Flight 815. Kate is a fugitive, and was being pursued by Marshal Mars prior to the flight, for blowing up her father. Kate had been captured in Australia and was being escorted back to the United States before the crash. Kate has always seemed to run away from her past. Even on the Island, Kate exhibits a kind of evasive behavior to escape from her problems. Kate, when on the run, always had good intentions and never did any outright harm or killings to anybody, she believed she was doing things for the greater benefit of others. This view is prominently connected with her actions of her father's murder - she believed she was relieving her mother from his abusive presence. Kate is strong-willed, useful and clever, but dislikes being alone and is usually level-headed.

She has escaped from the captivity of the Others with Sawyer, and has formed an ambiguous romantic relationship with him, despite still being unsure about her feelings for Jack.

I agree, tis not the place for my bickering.

Are you asking for answers, or opinions on this matter (I have plenty of those)? Answer=I am not in Eko's head.
Opinion=He probaly has not read the bible in awhile and is starting to make things up.

Actually, anger (wrath) is one of the Seven Deadly Sins.
Just an observation.

The Seven Deadly Sins are not from the Bible, although many of them coincide with Biblical sins.

My guess about Ecko's comment is that there are stories, like fables, that tend to get mixed up with the truth, maybe throughout African Catholicism? The writers have obviously done some religious research in this series... It's just strange to me that they would throw in something that is blasphemeous like that without reason.

I am sure they were not trying to be blasphemous on purpose. And maybe culture does mix with religion. If you have heard so many things all your life, you probably forget which ones you learned where. And the same passage read by different people can have many interpretations.
I am not in Eko's head either, but if were guessing at a motive I think he was just trying to comfort Claire.
Catholics usually baptise infants very soon after birth (when a child becomes of "age" he or she then confirms the Baptism) and this may have also influenced Eko's encouraging her to do so. Whatever he says, he voice is very comforting and soothing.
I can't remember, did Charlie get a chance to describe his dream to Eko
or to Claire?

Charlie described his dream to Eko, that's where the baptism idea came from. And I think you're right MB, Eko was trying to comfort her and got his knowledge of his religion mixed up with culture.
