Did Locke have the right to punch Charlie?

I definetly believe that Charlie wants the best for the baby, though he was going about the matter the wrong way. He corroused around the Island lieng, stealing, and causing fires. He had it coming! Charlie just needs to use his drug-damaged brain a little bit more before he goes and tries to save the baby.

If I was in Locke's position, I would have bonked him once and been done with it. 3 whoppers to the face was a bit much, though emotion (locke's) can get the best of us humans.

I think, based on what Locke and everyone else knew about the situation, Locke was totally justified. He didn't know about the intensity of the dreams, he just knew Charlie was an addict and was probably using again, and he wouldn't leave Claire and the baby alone. I think I would have smacked him, myself!

^ That's what I keep telling myself, too. As bad as I felt for Charlie, only the audience knew how vivid his dreams were. And of course Locke never gave Charlie a chance to explain these dreams. Last season, Locke would've had him sit down and go over every detail...something's going on with Locke now...he doesn't care.

Hello everyone, I'm new to Lostnet and posting mess. I never had a show grab me like this has. My TV used to be for sports. Now me, my 10 yr old daughter, and best friend see each other every Wed. I can remember saying this show won't make it six weeks when I first saw the ad for it. Now I'm with my daughter watching the show in slow motion to see if we can see the DHARMA logo on a shark fin. Charlie could fall off a cliff I could care less. He is a problem that is not going anywhere. Locke should have grabbed Eko's bambo stick and put Charlie out of all our misery. My fravorite quote to this point Sawyer replying to Locke about not remembering the path he and the gang took when walking back to camp. "Oh yeah now that you mention it there's my favorite leaf." He' quick. Glad to be part of this talk to someone soon I hope.

The group watching turned away as if they where thinking I wish I had done that. He could have distroyed everything on the beach with that fire. Someone neeed to snap him out of his crazed behavor Clair's slap didn't seem to work.

I dunno if it was Locke's "right" or not (there's no over-riding bill of rights on a deserted island), but, IMO that scene where Locke beats on Charlie was this season's MAJOR TURNING POINT...the Island is doing what it does best....testing / making people crazy.
