What do you make of it all?

At the end of this episode, eko tells locke that he found another tape and it happens to have the missing section of the first tape that Locke watched. They piece it back together and watch the reconstructed tape and the new part comes up and it says something like "Never use the computer to try and communicate with the outside world, this would be very bad and could cause another incident". Michael, not having seen this part yet, is over by the computer and sees the word "Hello?" written on the computer scene. Confused, He respondes with "hello". Then "Who is this?" comes up on the screen. Michael types "This is Michael, who is this?". Then the word "Dad?" comes up on the computer screen and this ends the episode. So the question is, what do we make of all this. Is walt in another bunker on the island, will there be any consequences from using the computer to communicate?

I don't know. I think it's a trap. There was a long pause between "This is Michael..." and "Dad?" Maybe they looked through their files for someone to pretend to be.

But then again, it could be that Walt is hiding in a bunker somewhere.

And another thing. Those blast doors were mentioned for a reason. Maybe they close if the button goes unpushed?

Yeah that's what i was thinking, or they come down when an incident happens, if they arent the same thing

This episode blew my mind. specifically wonderin what the incident was that had happended b4 , and then highly doubt it being Walt typin to Michael the pause before "Dad?" showed up made me think somebody had to pause n think about Michaels situatiion wit his son and then ask "Dad?" in a set-up way

Maybe it is Walt and he's using the comp to commuicate with Michael, since he can't see Walt like Shannon did.

I think walt would have paused after he saw the words "this is michael". It prolly came as a bit of a shock to him and he was taken back for a moment, the same way michael was taken back when he saw the word "Dad?"

I attributed the long pause to the same thing - Walt being shocked that it was
his dad on the other comp. He probaby thinks everyone else on the raft is dead.
Maybe he is so much harder for the Others to indoctrinate because he is
more "savvy" than the other children. He spent over a month and a half on the
island, learned skills, and made lots of friends (Locke, Shannon etc.) and had
a parent he know on the island before he was kidnapped. I know he is only
ten but he is a mature ten (Harry Potter was only 11 when he saved the
Sorceror's Stone from Lord Voldemort - Ha ha)
Alex was an infant when she was taken and never knew her parents and Emma
and her brother where on the island less than two weeks when they were
taken and had no reason to believe the "Others" were any worse than the
people they had left behind on the beach.
Walt , however. has a reason to fight back - even if he believed his dad was dead
he still has Vincent and the other friends to get back to. I think he is
continually trying to escape from the "Others." The "Others" are probably
in another Dharma bunker with a computer ( I wonder what it's "only function" is)
and he is using it to communicate.

Do we really have to wait until Jan 11??!!??
