So is it possible that Penelope's father sent Naomi? But why would he bother? If it's because he found out that her daughter's close to finding her man, is not attempting to stop Penelope a smarter move than trying to get to Des before she does? I mean, the guy is not anywhere within easy reach anyways..
I feel sorry for Des- he looked so excited and distinctively hopeful by the side of Naomi when Sayid entered the tent.. Now Sayid is a 'doctor' in his own way (thus his last name means 'surgeon' in Arabic) so I guess he'd know a bad story when he sees/hears one.
