I agree that he should tell them and that they probably would like to know about the numbers, but hurley's too afraid they won't look at him the same anymore, like his friends from home did after he won the lottery.

I think that's exactly why he won't push the issue. Look how he agonized over having to deny people the food found in the bunker. He simply doesn't want to disappoint or offend anyone. Also after he talked about winning the lottery, the others joke about it as though it's just one of his fantasies so he seems to have concluded not to give them anything else to complain about or tease him about.
