It couldn't be from the kidney surgery...Locke was living with Helen and was self-employed as some sort of real estate/house inspection occupation when his father (Cooper) "died" and got him to retrieve Cooper's money from the bank strong box.
Oh, and by the way, government bureacrats love to go through
every question on those forms with you. Believe me, I know. Especially Soc Security disability benefits.
