Default

Just thought of something else.

In Season 2's last episode, I wondered why Desmond quietly went along with Locke when he proposed they stop the button from being pushed.

He KNEW what would happen when the button wasn't pushed, but he quietly followed Locke's lead without bringing it up.

Until it was almost too late.

I think Desmond would rather follow than lead. I think he somehow believes that if a different person seems totally convinced of their position, then he must be wrong and they must have some priviledged information he doesn't know about.

I think, when push comes to shove, Desmond does not have the courage of his convictions. And that is the real reason why he freaks out whenever someone calls him a coward.

"Whoa!" she said. "Cry 'Havoc!' And let loose the dogs of war!"
And, like Banquo's ghost, they just won't go away.
