I dont think its as much him seeing the future as much as him just being ABLE to see more of the world and its goings on which alow him to sense ( 6th sense, esp, yadda yadda) things other people cannot.

There are many representations of Buddha in varsious poses. I have poctures in thalaind next to one lying down, one sitting and there are some standing.
I wonder if the foot is facing outward if it was originally a statue like the statue of liberty that faces out to see ether warning people or calling them forth.
