Paul Dini(writer of both lost and the cartoon Batmans) is credited with this in the June 12th TV Guide.

Second in the pilot episode they showed the monster fully, sort of, look carefully above the engine that blows up and you’ll see two smoke-monsters attacking the enigine if you are recording Lost tonight you’ll see it on your tv also in slo-mo.
