I like it...she cant make a sandwich or muffins, but perhaps WANTS to, as if to become 'normal'. Perhaps Juliet is trying to 'defect'...
Altho my first thought was that the Jack 'File' she quoted was very biographical, as thought she was simply reading from his obituary, which they could have gotten from watching TV.
