If I had been marooned on an island and then caught by people who had recent info about my life, I would have asked.

And along the same lines as this topic, this is something we discussed at work: although Juliette claimed to have all this information on Jack, she never said where she got it. Almost every fact she had about him was something that he had already told another Lostie. It could have been that all the info she had was gathered by spies/moles right there on the island. Maybe she was just playing mind games and letting him think the Others had ways of connecting with the outside world.
