I didn't understand why Desmond seemed to agree with Locke's idea that it was just a social experiment for as long as he did. He was there the first time and saw what happened. Doors coming down and lights flashing could easily just be a facade. But what his bunkmate explained about the electromagnetic discharge and then seeing it with his own eyes... too much truth in that. And don't forget about the failsafe key! Desmond knew too much was true to be swayed by John until the final countdown of 30 seconds.

I wish Desmond would have told John what he knew about the button. Maybe if John knew the mechanics behind it instead of just thinking "saving the world." And THEN, even when stuff was flying around John still acted like a big baby!

If he didn't want to push the button, then quit going into the hatch. At least it gave people something to do besides pick fruit all day. Ugh! That whole thing with John sabotaging the button-pushing totally frustrated me.
